New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s resolutions, a lot of people make them, few people actually see them through. People often make a resolution to lose weight. Losing weight can be extremely challenging. In order to lose weight and keep it off you’ll want to get to the root of why you gained weight to begin with. Most people gain weight because of a pattern, or say an addiction to food. A pattern is an unconscious behavior that is repeated over and over. If you want to lose weight once and for all, you will need to address your pattern. I have created four easy-to-follow steps that will help you stick to your New Year’s resolution.

Step one (your inner self): This is the most important step. For this step you will journal your thoughts once every hour. If every hour is too difficult you can pare it down to five times a day instead. Every hour is optimal, but if you would rather set your own time that is fine. Use your phone alarm to help you remember when to journal your thoughts. Do this for three days. Your pattern is the reason for your weight gain. Patterns reside in the mind. Your thoughts will help you to unlock and release your pattern once and for all.

Step two (your inner self): For this step you will journal how you feel every hour you are awake. You can choose to journal your feelings as little as five times a day is you wish. Like step one, every hour is optimal. You can use your phone alarm to help you remember when to journal your feelings. Do this for three days straight. How you feel is a direct link to how much you eat, when you eat, and what you eat. Journaling your feelings will help you to achieve your New Year’s resolution.

Step three (your physical self): For this step you will journal exactly what you eat, along with the time you eat. Do this consistently for three days. It is important to be honest with yourself. This step will help you to get a realistic overview of what kind, and how much “fuel” you are putting into your body.

Step four (your physical self): For this step you will be journaling your activities, like walking, jogging, cycling, whatever you do to workout. It’s best to do low impact workouts. Low impact workouts will help you to lose weight more easily. You will be journaling each of your activities; what you did, when you did it, and how long it lasted. Do this consistently for five days straight.

It is important not to overlap the steps. Take your time and work on each step one at a time. When you have finished all four steps, take a look at each of your journals. What is your first reaction to what you read? Do you see how your pattern is controlling you? Do you see where you can make the necessary changes to lose weight once and for all? First work on your thoughts, be aware of what you are thinking. You can choose your thoughts every second of every day. You are in charge of your mind and your life. You can choose to think positive thoughts, instead of negative pattern related thoughts. I recommend writing down a short list of positive things to think about. So when you are thinking negative thoughts, you will have a list of positive things to think about. Thoughts create energy. When you change your thoughts, you are in turn changing how you feel. How you feel will directly affect what you eat, as well as your level of activity.

Next, observe how you feel. Did you notice that when you change your thoughts, your feelings change as well? Now that you have changed your thoughts and how you feel, your pattern will begin to shift little by little. In time you will release your pattern and your need to overeat once and for all. You will find yourself wanting to be more active because your pattern isn’t holding you back any longer. Food will simply be fuel for your body instead of something that controls you.

Do your best to be in the moment and observe yourself as you go through the process. If you find it difficult to be in the moment, that’s where meditation comes in. Meditation will help you to take charge of your mind, so your mind doesn’t take charge of you (your pattern). I recommend using my meditation CD “Weight Loss”. Here is a link to “Weight Loss”

Patterns run deep in all of us. Patterns are solidified by three years of age. Patterns are present in your life to help you to be more conscious. This is why you are here, to release your patterns and become more conscious. If you find it difficult to make sense of your patterns on your own, I recommend booking a session with me. Patterns are my specialty. I can help you to understand and release your patterns easily.

Why not make your New Year’s resolution finally come true? Losing weight doesn’t have to be a challenge. Follow the steps above to get to the root of your weight gain, and address the pattern connected to it once and for all. Take your time and work each step one at a time. Happy New Years to you!
