Focus and Balance

Mercury has been in retrograde since March 22nd, it will go direct on April 15th. When mercury is in retrograde we can feel off and out of balance. During this time old patterns can surface, bringing up negative emotions like anger, sadness, depression, and loneliness. This is why I felt it was important to write about focus this month. If you’ve been feeling off and out of balance, having focus can change your whole way of being. Focus gives you direction and a path to follow. When your mind has something positive to focus on, you will feel better. Your thoughts will be positive and in the moment, and you will feel calm and relaxed.

 

To get focus, the first step is to know what you want. What is it that you’re after? What do you desire? This can be anything, big or small. You might desire something outside yourself, like a new job or relationship. Or maybe you want to develop yourself on the inside, and better yourself as a person. Whatever you want is perfect, this will be your goal.

 

The next step is to see your goal in your mind. An excellent place to do this is during your mediation time. The style of meditation is up to you. What style of meditation works best for you? What fits into your daily routine? Is it a formal style of seated mediation, or an active style of mediation, such as walking, journal writing, or doing yoga? If you force yourself into a style of meditation that doesn’t suit you it just won’t work. You won’t enjoy it, and you’ll end up not wanting to meditate.

 

Along with choosing a style of meditation, how you meditate is also important. Are you able to keep focused during your meditation? Or does your mind wonder off? If your mind wonders off, your mind isn’t focused on your meditation. It’s a sign that your mind is controlling you. Which means, you will need to go deeper into your meditation. You’ll need to take charge of your mind, and focus.

 

When you decide what style of meditation you want to do, the next step is to schedule a time to meditate. You can use the alarm on your phone to keep yourself consistent. You’ll be taking a little time each day just for you and your meditation practice.

 

Now it’s time to take action. As you meditate do your best to see your goal in your mind. When you have clear focus you will be able to take steps towards your goal. Make sure your steps are small. Small is always more doable. When your steps are small you’ll have an easier time maintaining focus. Your mind may try to sabotage you by telling you to hurry up and take larger steps. If this happens, simply redirect your mind, and focus. Take a small step each and every day.

 

Lastly, have fun with it! Working with focus is a perfect way to bring balance back into your life. You will be surprised at how much energy you have, not to mention how many goals you’ll be able to accomplish. Remember to schedule your meditation time, use the alarm on your phone if it helps you to stay consistent. Then take a small step towards your goal every day. There has been a lot happening energy wise. Use focus anytime, for anything you desire.
